Head-To-Head: BMW X6 xDrive35d by AC Schnitzer and Hartge

AC Schnitzer and Hartge are two of the most famous car tuners and they need no introduction. Over the years, each one of these companies focused part of their efforts on the BMW brand and several “tuned-up” bimmers were released by the two of them.
Hartge was the first one to open doors with their own version of the BMW X6 xDrive35d. First changes were made to the powerplant, the twin-turbo 3.0 liter diesel engine received an upgrade to 328 horsepower and 675 Nm of torque. To handle all that weight and power, Hartge X6 xDrive35d was placed on ultra-wide tires, 295 / 30 ZR 22 at the front and 335 / 25 ZR 22 at the rear.
Suspensions have been lowered as well by 30 mm. The Hartge X6 runs from 0-62 mph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 159 mph.

If you ignore the “cheesy” song playing inside the car, the video is actually quite fun, but we’re still a bit disappointed that we the driver didn’t turn off the music so we can hear that engine roar…..
But before you jump into the four minutes long video, here is a quick history on the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. It uses a different electric drive setup from the X6 Hybrid and it’s being considered a mild hybrid. The system was developed in collaboration with Mercedes Benz. The upgraded V8 twin-turbo with High Precision Direct Injection runs together, at the same time, with a 3-phase synchronous electric motor ...

The fellows over at the SpyShots.nl managed to capture the test mule on video this time. Judging by the video, it seems that the F10 M5 will not disappoint.
According to sources close to Edmunds, next generation BMW M5, due in 2011-2012, will have a turbocharged V8 engine. The twin-scroll 4.4 liter engine which debuted in the BMW X5 M and X6 M earlier this yea develops 555 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque and it’s unclear if BMW will decide to up these numbers.
The drivetrain of the F10 BMW M5 will feature a similar KERS system as the one found in the Formula 1 monoposts which will offer fuel savings technologies. The KERS will also feature a boost button imported from the F1 cars that will allow the driver to unleash all the energy stored up...

On the initial list, BMW was represented by the BMW Z4, X5 xDrive35d, 335d and the new 5 Series GT. After the initial round, three out of four have been eliminated, but the 3 Series sedan diesel continues the race.
BMW has been out of the American diesel market for around 20 years now and they marked their return last year with the twin-sequential-turbocharged 3.0L diesel engine for the newly refreshed 335. BMW’s first 50-state-legal diesel delivers 265 hp at 4220 rpm, and an all too fun 425 lb-ft of torque between 1750 and 2250 rpm. D...

This time, our friends over at Edmunds.com, spent some time behind the wheels of a new BMW X1 at the Leipzig plant in Germany. All the X1 reviews we have seen recently are targeting the European automobile market and consumers; and the official launch date was set for October 24th.
Those of us living in the U.S. will have to wait a little longer than a year before we would see the entry level SAV. So far reviews have been on the positive side, with the main focus being placed on efficiency and performance. There are still voices that disagree with the interior design quality, but that’s another story we’ll get into in the near future.
Hidden deep into their review, there is a small piece of information that will make some of the BMW fans happy: “But then the BMW peop...

Now many of you might wonder how one can distinguish between this test mule and the BMW ones, and is it truly an Alpina car?
